Big love to Kirsten because it's her 21st birthday! Yay! She's legal everywhere now! Yay!
I'm currently wearing green polish on my nails in honour of her, but I don't have any pictures of it yet so I'm gonna post about the manicure I did over the weekend.
As mentioned in our video, I have a thing for the obnoxiously bright neons. Even though they make my skin look weird and can potentially blind the people I meet on a daily basis, I'm drawn to them.
Like many other people, I also think that neon polishes look stunning under crackles.
It doesn't look very neon in the picture, but I promise you that China Glaze Celtic Sun is almost absurdly bright. Hell, on the label on the bottom it actually says "Celtic Sun (neon)", just in case you weren't sure. It looks super washed out in the pictures I took, but on my nails it was absolutely incredible.
I know lots of people like Black Shatter when it has lots of little teeny cracks, but I quite like it when it has bigger chunks of black with nice wide cracks. Dunno what it is, I just think it looks better over most polishes that way.
I had read on a few blogs and whatnot that Celtic Sun is pretty sheer on its own, so I started things off with two coats of China Glaze Snow. Snow isn't the best polish, but it's white and whites are notoriously hard to work with. It was super streaky with the first coat, but it evened out most of the way with the second coat. There were still a few bald spots, but I wasn't too concerned about them
because I was going to be putting Black Shatter over top of the finished product. I think I ended up using 3 coats of Celtic Sun on top of that, but because of its sheerness the bald spots from the white still showed up.
No problem though, because Black Shatter hides all sins.
I will most definitely be redoing this mani at some point in the future, but probably not until it gets a bit sunnier out here. I think the offensive brightness of Celtic Sun might show up a bit better in actual natural light, not just my natural light bulb.
What do you think about this? Do you have the same problem with Celtic Sun or is it just me?
