I tried so hard.

Hello lacquered lovelies! This post is a bit (a few hours, okay okay) late but only because I was fighting a battle with the sun for most of the day... It kept disappearing on me when I was outside and then coming out in full force when I was in class. Like that helps!

With holo madness making the rounds again, I decided to break out my China Glaze Wireless Holographic topcoat. I always like it when I use it, but for some reason, I always forget how much I like it until I use it again. I should really bust it out more!

I also took this opportunity to test out a polish that I had actually gotten for Konading, China Glaze Awaken. This colour is so gorgeous, I couldn't resist trying it out as a mani. It's so sophisticated and lovely. Sadly, it did not play nicely with my basecoat (bubbling grrr), so the only picture I have of it before my layering experiment is one that doesn't really show the colour much. I apologize!

I decided to use my WHT, but I wanted to see if I could force it to make its own linear holo look by using multiple layers. I stopped at two because the layers were taking ages to dry (I didn't use a topcoat at all through this process because I didn't want to lose any holo effect) but maybe three would've been the sweet spot? Who knows? It was gorgeous anyway, just not what I had been hoping for.

Yeah. Sparkly and gorgeous, but not quite what I was hoping for. Oh well! You win some and lose some or whatever that expression is, right? I have true holos on their way to me in the mail and I can't WAIT to get them!

What do you guys think? I wish there was a topcoat that would give me a linear holo on every single mani EVER.

Thanks for reading!

  2. It looks like the color you were trying to get at is Color Club revvvolution. It's INSANE in holo-ness. See at Scrangie's blog: http://www.scrangie.com/2009/02/color-club-spring-2009-collection-femme.html

  3. Scrangie's swatches will be the death of my wallet haha! I didn't have any particular colour in mind when I started out with this, I just wanted to see if it was possible to get a linear holo effect with the WHT. It failed but it was worth a shot, right? Revvvolution is one of my favourite polishes that I own, though, I have to stop myself from using it all the time when I have so many untrieds!

Hello miss Pauper <3 A crackle would be so fun over it! I put Broken Hearted over it and it looks so fun... too bad my mani needs a change now!

    Thanks for reading, lovelies!

  7. I wish I had the guts to swatch, my nails are definitely not worth the pictures. I'm using a nail hardener but every time I manage to get a nice even overall length ,one nail breaks.
