Today I have another lovely blue manicure for you, I hope you enjoy it!
Apologies in advance for all of the stray glitter. I ended up redoing the manicure for these pictures (jerkface Seche Vite gave me intense shrinkage overnight) and no amount of acetone or polish remover has been able to get rid of all of the glitter.
Today's manicure, which I'm completely in love with by the way, consists of two coats of Revlon Royal layered over two coats of Sally Hansen Celeb City.
Celeb City, which you can see uncovered near my cuticles (I actually like the way it looks with the silver peeking out, is that weird? It's like it's trying to be a ruffian manicure), is my go-to polish when I want something silvery. It's a clear base completely packed with wee silver glitter pieces, and the end result is unbelievably sparkly.
Royal is, as the name suggests, a royal blue polish. What the name doesn't tell you (but it becomes apparent quickly) is that it also happens to be a jelly! It's a little more pigmented than most jellies, but it still has that awesome translucency and squishiness. I think that makes it perfect for layering, though it does look absolutely lovely on its own.
I really like the way that the base of Celeb City really brightens the blue up, it reminds me cobalt glass.
And then when the light hits it it just right... KAPOW! Every once in a while you get this really incredible turquoise shimmer. It took me about fifteen thousand pictures to get it to show up properly, but it was totally worth the effort.In case you didn't understand my unclever title, it's a reference to the fact that the Ravenclaw house colours in the Harry Potter movies are blue and silver. I assume that most people will have understood that, but you can never be too careful. :)

ReplyDelete@Elizabeth: Thanks! I hadn't thought to layer them until the other day! I wanted to wear Royal but I hate that it leaves VNL so I had to find something to put under it. Celeb City was the first thing I grabbed.
