Hello lacquered lovelies! Happy Tuesday? I'm stoked because I have tomorrow and Thursday off but I know that Friday seems a long way off right now lol. American friends, you did have yesterday off, right? I hope you enjoyed your long weekend!
Today I have another glitter and jelly sandwich. I KNOW GUYS. I know. I know you're probably really sick of seeing them, but I started this blog to show swatches and what I've been wearing lately. I haven't been able to swatch because of my work schedule (my days off only seem to bring terrible weather, so expect some lamp pictures for a bit... *sigh*), so it's back to "I wore this" posts for now. And I've been wearing a lot of sandwiches lately. I've had so many ideas for them and I love trying them. I'm sorry if you're sick of seeing them. Maybe skip this entry then lol!
So yeah. Another glitter and jelly sandwich. Let me say something first, though - I used OPI Bubble Bath in this, right? A polish that I hated so much the first few times I used it that I wanted to chuck it against a wall lol. Those sheer finishes are not an option for me (I know it's gross to some people but I do have stained nails, so...) so I need more opacity than what they're probably supposed to give. So I did four coats of it, right? Waited about ten minutes between coats, topped it off with my trusty China Glaze Fast Forward, and an hour later it still hadn't dried. So I spent (basically) almost two hours on it. Thankfully I was watching Saw, so the time passed quickly but still. I was mad.
I figured that was just going into my "hey, maybe I'll have a blog sale at some point" pile, or that I'd give it to someone who wanted a bit of class to their nails or something. Also known as "not me". Then I decided that I would give it one more shot, and use glitter and try layering it. And I'm so glad I did because I looooooooooove this mani. But enough talking, more pictures, right?
I started out with two coats of OPI Bubble Bath. I waited about twenty minutes for it to dry, just to be safe, and added one coat of Wet 'n' Wild Party of Five Glitters, then two more coats of Bubble Bath. Topped it all off with China Glaze FF.
That's the most visible my nail line has been in a while lol. My nails are stained but the free edge is still really white. More coats would've fixed that but whatever, I didn't mind much. This totally reminds me of confetti cake! I would put a picture in but... if you don't know what I'm talking about, google at your own risk. I'm starving and didn't want to look through the image results to find one that looked like my nails lol. I was thinking about Glitter in the Air, because Kellie had just posted it (and now I need it because of her.. *shakes fist*), but I was also thinking about an awesome mani Liz of Liquid Jelly had done for a Pink Wednesday post. I loved her mani so much! I couldn't do the accent nail, though, so I just borrowed the batter part. :)
Lots of writing today, I'm sorry! What do you lovelies think? Are you sick of glitter and jelly sandwiches? Have you done any good ones lately? Any ideas for any? I wish nail polish companies would make ONE polish like this and save us all the work lol! What are you rocking today?
Thanks for reading! Have a beautiful day!

ReplyDeleteI used to love the confetti angel food cake. Yum!!
I do recall you saying something along the lines of "oh god my nails make me hungry right now" at work :P Now it makes me crave cake.....
ReplyDeleteNow I feel the need to pick up bubble bath just to try this. (Normally stay far away from the soft or sheer shades.) Looks fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this, and no I'm not tired of seeing these kinds of manis :) I haven't seen too many! I like your take on it!

Nicely done!
I love it. It does look like glitter in the air. I just love the glitter jelly sadwich look.
ReplyDeleteI love this! And no, I'm not sick of seeing them yet. I don't think I even own any polishes sheer enough though because I can't stand the look of VNL on myself. Gonna have to get some so I can try this!
ReplyDeleteI love it! I just found your blog, so I am still totally in love with the idea of sandwiching!
ReplyDelete@Varnish Vixen Oooh I really hope you try it, I'd love to see what you come up with!
ReplyDelete@Bailey Tehe yay! I'm glad you found me! Have you made any good sandwiches lately? <3
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you all like this! Perhaps another theme week is in order ;) Also, you all taught me a new term for that icing/cake: "funfetti"! I've never heard that before lol! Thank you all for commenting <3
