Happy Canada day!

Hello lacquered lovelies! Yayyy it's Friday and it's also Canada day, which means a long weekend for any of my fellow Canucks! But American friends get a long weekend too, yes? Since Monday is the fourth?

I wanted to do something fun for Canada day, so I decided to attempt some nail art. LOL JK. I failed hard. A maple leaf is a lot harder to draw than I had expected. So I decided to go for something really simple. I didn't keep this on long, just because I'll be swatching today, but it's the thought that counts, right?

I painted all my nails with Essie Jelly Apple, except my ring finger, which I painted white using Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear blah blah blah in White On. I taped half my index hail and painted one side white, then added red glitter on the red half because why not?

After numerous failed attempts at drawing maple leafs (seriously, I fail), I decided to just write "Canada" across my nails. Added some hearts and filled them in with red glitter on the white parts and silver glitter (I don't have chunky white glitter but IMAGINE how awesome that would be) on the red bits.

I took these pictures at night because I didn't trust myself to sleep and not mess them up - I was unsure of how the topcoat would make the nail art pen look (I used a Sally Hansen one) so I just used my lamp. Sorry for the crappy lighting. :( I also apologize for the clean up. I thought I was okay but my index finger says otherwise. Ahh 2 AM vision, you suck.

You also may notice that there is a Born Pretty banner on the side of my blog now. I now have a 10% discount code to share with you guys! I'm slowly trying to get into nail art so I hope it's helpful for those of you that are into it and better than me! Everything in the store is reasonably priced and they offer free shipping worldwide, which is awesome. Just clicking the picture will take you to the store. :)

Anyway, that's it from me today. What do you guys think? Are any other Canadians rocking some patriotic nails? What about my American friends, have you any ideas for your 4th manis? This is my second last post before I leave, I have everything scheduled but I'm going to miss you guys! I'll be completely offline for a week - no computer, no phone, none of that.

Thanks for reading! Have a beautiful day!

  2. This is so cute! Also, just a tip for the nail art pen, since it's water based, the pen marks rub off so I would suggest using a top coat. I had these awesome butterfly nails and THEY RUBBED OFF, WTF? lol
