Orly Snowcone + Born Pretty rhinestones

Hi lacquered lovelies! Happy Monday! Today I have something a bit different to share - nail art is something I rarely attempt because I suck at it, but recently, I was offered the opportunity to try out a product from the Born Pretty store. They have all kinds of nail art accessories, including rhinestones, stamping plates (including a LOT of Konad dupes and an adorable Hello Kitty plate!) and even nail polish. I've never used rhinestones before, so that's what I chose to review - I don't know how many people actually use rhinestones in real life so I figured, it's a first for me and maybe it would be a first for some of you too!

The item ID for the rhinestones I chose is 881, just your standard round rhinestones. I didn't want to get too crazy LOL. But there are hearts and other shapes too!

I started out with two coats of Orly Snowcone. It was finally in the core Orly display at my Sally's and I needed it! Then I stamped using Konad plate M56 and white special polish. I decided to keep it really soft and use light purple rhinestones. I waited for that to dry completely, then added a drop of topcoat in the centre of the bow. Using tweezers, I put a rhinestone in the centre of each bow. This is much girlier than I'd usually go for but I thought it was really cute!

Just a note though - applying topcoat and getting it to "sit" normally around the rhinestones was a bit tricky for me. I got some bubbles, but those are purely user errors. Hopefully I've learned my lesson for next time! I also probably shouldn't have used Seche Vite - my bottle is on its last legs and it's at the goopy phase!

All in all, I'm pretty pleased with my first attempt. It wasn't nearly as difficult to use these as I had been afraid it would be! To get them off, I took the rest of my polish off, then used an orange stick and pressed gently until the rhinestone gave. Easy!

Born Pretty has free shipping worldwide, and their prices are very reasonable. This rhinestone wheel retails for $3.00 and has 12 colours to choose from! Including black and orange... yes, I'm already thinking Halloween! Jayce also gave me a coupon code to share with my readers - you can get 10% off your order by using the code KIJ61! So what are you waiting for? Get shopping!

Thanks for reading! Have a beautiful day!
