Shimmer Polish swatches, part one!

Hello lacquered lovelies! Happy Saturday! Today I've got swatches of some really beautiful glitters to share with you guys :)

You've probably heard of Shimmer Polish. Shimmer Polish is an indie brand masterminded by a lovely lady named Cindy. These are the types of glitters that I think have gotten a bit lost in the craziness of our indie obsession - metallic glitters all the way through. I'm not knocking indie sellers for using matte glitter (I love matte glitter so hard, more pls) but honestly, when I started seeing Shimmer Polish swatches popping up everywhere I started to remember that there are other types of glitters than just the mattes that I've been obsessing over haha.

Cindy creates glitters that are like the glitters that got me into polish in the first place (and earned me my nickname that became the name of this blog!). They're dense and sparkly and fascinating. I got these a few weeks ago and it's taken me so long to post them because I've been wearing each one as a full manicure... or with one of the glitters on each hand :) It's gotten some weird looks but whatever, I thought it was fun!

For all of the swatches I have two coats of the Shimmer Polish glitter over two coats of a base colour. I used my homemade peel-off basecoat and topped each one with 1-2 layers of Gelous and a coat of Seche Vite.

Let's start below a cut because there's a lot of photos!

First up is Mary, a beautiful combination of red, silver, black, fuchsia and blue/holographic glitter. I chose to layer Mary over a-england Perceval, which is one of my favourite reds. I wore this when I got my wisdom teeth out and it helped me feel a lot better! The ladies in the office were quite taken with my nails too. The one who drugged me up three times sedated me thought Mary was gorgeous. :)

This is Caroline. I love this polish because purple and also because it reminds me of Caroline from the Vampire Diaries (aka vampire Barbie) and I love her haha. Caroline is beautiful. Different shades of purple, a bit of aqua glitter and it looks like some holographic glitter too. Complex. Really beautiful. I layered Caroline over a-england Avalon, a shimmery royal purple. Sometimes I wear purple and decide to go all out, even though purples never seem to photograph accurately... I had to adjust my white balance a million times working with this combo but it's pretty close. A bit richer in real life. Also, this is my seldom-seen right hand - Caroline was one of the polishes I wore as part of my "one on each hand" trials hahahaha.

Next up is Adrienne. Mostly a darker blue and gold glitter, but there's some really lovely light aqua-ish glitter and some red/copper thrown in. Gorgeous. It's really hard to describe Shimmer Polishes. They're so complex! I layered Adrienne over a-england Galahad because I thought it would keep with the colours going on already while still providing a bit of contrast.

Next we have Tammy. I see purple, fuchsia, a bit of blue, a bit of red... and gold bar glitter. I KNOW. I don't usually like bar glitter and I must confess that I was a little hesitant about trying Tammy out, but I'm glad I did. I wouldn't say that Tammy was my favourite, but I didn't hate this combination on. I definitely looked at it a lot. I layered Tammy over Zoya Caitlin.

Last for today is Jennifer. Pale pinky purple, aqua, copper, gold and black glitter. Loveeeee this glitter. Despite the black, it's very ethereal to me. I layered Jennifer over Zoya Jana. This was one of my favourite combinations too.

Whew! Picture heavy! What do you guys think? I love these. I can't wait to show you the rest! They're so complex and interesting and any creator that uses black glitter has a direct line to my heart. It's one of my favourite things ever. My picks from this round would be Caroline, Jennifer and Mary :) Which ones are catching your eye, if any?

You can get Shimmer Polishes from Cindy's Etsy shop. I also linked to each polish separately in their introductions. :) You should also check out the Shimmer Polish Facebook page - 1500 likes means a 15% off sale on all of these beauties! So close :)
