Harlow & Co. Sirens collection swatches!

Hello lacquered lovelies! Happy Saturday! Any plans for the weekend? I'm going out tonight to celebrate my birthday early... I'm pathetically excited haha. I never go out so I'm looking forward to it!

Today I have swatches of the Harlow & Co. Sirens collection for you. This is an extremely limited collection - it's Katie's first venture into creating polishes and they are beautiful. If you want to see more swatches of these beauties, you can see Jen's swatches or Camille's beautiful swatches and nail art - I'm totally in love with her nails. They are too cute!

First up is Bad Atmosphere. This is difficult to describe... it's very green-based grey that dries to a rubbery finish. Vinyl. Not quite matte but not glossy either. Glorious formula too. I can't wait to stamp with this! This is two coats because I messed up a bit on the first. It definitely is a one-coater (if you don't suck like I did haha). The first time I wore this I only used one coat!

This is Precious Calm. Definitely my favourite - it's a dusty green that leans more blue-based with beautiful shimmer. The shimmer looks almost like it flashes purple in the bottle... so pretty. This was two coats.

And last is Sparkling Waters. Glitter! Different shades of blue glitter mixed with some holographic glitter and larger silver hexes. Loveeee. This was two coats. No topcoat - you can see that it dries pretty gritty but I don't mind. If you do, you'll probably need a couple of layers of topcoat - I'd use Gelous if I wanted to get it smooth!

These will be available from Katie and Harlow & Co. on February 1st. The set will retail for $32 and is extremely limited edition - there are only ten sets!

What do you lovelies think? Which of these shades would you rock? :)

Thanks for reading! Have a beautiful day!

The products in this post were provided to me for review. For more information, see my disclosure tab above.

Harlow & Co. Sirens collection press release!

The Sirens Limited Edition Collection
exclusively from Harlow & Co.®

Greek mythology tells the tale of the Sirens; dangerous creatures portrayed as seductresses luring nearby sailors with their enchanting music and voices, only to have them shipwreck on the rocky coasts of their island. Our Sirens Limited Edition Collection embodies that same seductive and nautical spirit. We promise that they won't leave you shipwrecked - unless you stare at the glitter and shimmer for too long! All three shades have been specifically designed to be used combined for nail art or on their own as stand-alone manicures.

Bad Atmosphere: a dark murky crème with hints of green and blue, this polish works well for nail art stamping or on its own. This mysterious shade is opaque in just one coat! 0.5 oz./15 ml

Precious Calm: subtle shimmer in a grey-teal crème, a shade that is reminiscent of calm, soothing tropical waters. Opaque in two coats and can be used as a base for stamping with Bad Atmosphere or for the glittery goodness of Sparkling Waters. 0.5 oz./15 ml

Sparkling Waters: a glitter packed polish with a hint of holographic! This polish is opaque in two coats or perfect for layering over our two other Siren Limited Edition Collection shades. Sparkling Waters is bursting with blues, teals, silver and holographic glitters, which complement Bad Atmosphere and Precious Calm beautifully. 0.5 oz./15 ml

As a limited edition collection - we are only making 10 sets, which will be released February 1, 2012 - they will retail at $32.00 USD for each collection. There will be no pre-orders and these will be available not only domestically, but internationally as well. If you're a Siren kind of girl, don't delay - they'll be gone before you know it!

Harlow & Co. limited edition polishes are proudly 3-free and animal cruelty free!

These will be available on the Harlow & Co. website on February 1st!

What do you think, loves? They're SO pretty in person. I'll have swatches up soon!

Fish scale layering

Hello lacquered lovelies! Happy Thursday! I apologise for my silence again. I wanted to post on Monday or Tuesday but Wednesday was the first time I would've been able to schedule a post... and I chose to keep my blog silent as part of the SOPA/PIPA protest. I may not be American but everyone would be impacted by those measures... hopefully the protest did the trick and showed that the internet community as a whole stands united against censorship and minority rules. Anyway!

Today I have a mani that was very hard to capture. Sometimes I layer glitters or flakies over a mani to get another day of wear out of it. Other times I go a bit nuts with the layering. This is one of those times. I started out with two coats of Jesse's Girl Mermaid's Lagoon (a lovely teal with coppery shimmer), which came to me from my love Jen (it is so pretty omfg thank youuuu <3). I wore that on its own for a day, then decided to try some layering. I started out with a coat of Color Club Sexy Siren, then added Essie Shine of the Times, then topped it off with FingerPaints Twisted. Yeah. It was a lot. The result looked like fish scales!

Oooh the macro shot is so cool haha. I love how sometimes my camera sees textures I didn't! Also, I apologize for my changed watermark. I haven't gotten my Harry Potter font back onto my new laptop so I decided to just use the same font I use as a default font on my blog haha!

What do you lovelies think? Have you done any fun layerings lately? :)

Thanks for reading! Have a beautiful day!

Nerd Lacquer swatches!

Hello lacquered lovelies! Happy Wednesday! It feels like forever since I wrote a proper post, but hopefully this will make up for it!

Lately we've all (well, I have) been fawning over excellent frankened glitters. And now they're available to us from a variety of sources. The glitters are unique and the collection concepts are awesome. This is one of them.

Nerd Lacquers are created by a crazy talented lady named Amanda. They're available in her Etsy shop or from the darling Katie of Harlow & Co. If you're still in need of convincing, my love Jen posted awesome swatches of these today! I died.

Each polish is inspired by "sci-fi favourites and other geekery" and they're fabulous. Enough talky talky, onto a LOT of pictures below the cut! I put them under a cut because there's a ton of them and I left them in their extra-large sizing so the details were more visible. :)

Konad starter kit giveaway! *CLOSED*

** This giveaway is now CLOSED. Thank you to everyone who entered! The winner will be announced soon. I have disabled comments on this post so please do not attempt to leave one. Thank you! **

Hello lacquered lovelies! I apologise for my longer-than-planned absence. I've still been on twitter, of course (addicted and I admit it) and I've wanted to blog constantly lately but haven't had as much time as I would have liked. Hopefully this will help make it a little bit better!

A giveaway! Yay! It's been absolutely ages since there was a giveaway on Glitta Gloves. And this one is exciting!

I don't show Konad often enough but I love to do it. The results are always amazing and it's really easy to do! I always get questions from strangers on how I did my nails. It's also an easy way to spice up a plain mani that you're getting a bit tired of!

Nail Polish Canada recently contacted me and asked if I'd like to host a little giveaway for my loves, and of course I said yes :) So, let's see the prize, shall we?

The starter kit includes:

Two plates (M2 and M3 - I adore both, look at the bows on M3! And the stars and the flowers... so cute)
A stamper
A scraper
Three special polishes: red, white and blue.

As a bonus, if you comment on this post with your favourite plate from their awesome selection, the winner will receive that plate too! I'm rather partial to M56 (I love bows), M78 (full nail designs are super easy to use and guaranteed to get compliments!) and M55 (so cute, especially for summer manis). So take a look and find another plate - stamping is addicting and so fun! My nails always distract me tehe.

Of course, there are rules. They're pretty simple, though.

1. You must be a follower of my blog.
2. To enter, leave a comment on this post with your GFC (Google Friend Connect) name, your email address and the number of the plate you would like.
3. US and Canadian residents only!

Sorry to my followers who aren't in the US and Canada - I still love and appreciate you and will have something coming up for you soon, hopefully! I've got everything together, I just need to find the time!

The winner of my giveaway will also be entered, along with the winners from other Nail Polish Canada giveaways, to win $200 worth of Konad products from the site! That's pretty awesome, right?

So, that's it! If you're American or Canadian, a follower of my blog and would like a chance to win Konad stuff... leave me a comment!

Please don't forget to leave your email address - if I don't have it I won't be able to contact you to tell you that you've won!

The giveaway will run for two weeks, until the 23rd of January, 2012. If you win, you will be entered to win $200 worth of Konad products from Nail Polish Canada. The winner of that giveaway will be announced by 15th February, 2012.

That's it! Happy entering and good luck!
