I'm back: swatch spam!

Hello lacquered lovelies! Happy Friday, woooo! I'm sorry for my prolonged absence. I moved home almost two weeks ago and I've been trying to get back into the swing of things. I also started work again (same place, just transferred to a different store)... so far it seems okay but I'm worried I might end up in the same situation I was in at the other store I worked at. Fingers crossed that it doesn't happen again/that I'll be able to find something else!

So today I've got some random swatches for you. These are things that I've had sitting in my "post" folder for ages and I don't know why I haven't posted them. Some are probably still drafts so I should probably go through and find those haha. Anyway, enjoy!

Holy COW there were way more photos than I expected. If you want to see holos, glitters and a multichrome comparison involving Clarins 230, read below the jump!

Holo comparisons: part one

Hello lacquered lovelies! Happy hump day. I hope you're all having a good week so far. I can't believe summer is almost over! I'm getting ready to move home... :( I graduated this summer and I'm going home for a year to save money and do some more schooling. Hopefully it'll be just a year and I'll be back in my chosen city next September... fingers crossed!

Today I've got the first part of the holo comparisons I've been working on. I've only been pulling things from my stash that I think would be an actual comparison - a pink holo vs a pink holo won't be seen here unless they're similar base colours, basically. This will make more sense once I get to the silver ones hahaha, I have way too many. It's a problem.

I've got three today - Speciallit√°/Hits Hera, Hermes and Zeus vs China Glaze DV8, GR8 and Let's Do it in 3D. DV8 and GR8 are from the OMG collection, LDii3D is from the Kaleidoscope collection and all are good examples of how different the holographic finishes can actually be. :)

And I'm putting the pictures below a cut because it looks sloppy on my homepage otherwise haha. To see the photos just click read more! :)

Barry M magnetic swatches

Hello lacquered lovelies! Happy Thursday :) Can you believe it's August? Time is flying by for sure. I can't believe summer is almost over!

Today I've got some swatches of the Barry M magnetic polishes for you. Have no fear, North American friends - Katie of Harlow & Co. sells Barry M, thank goodness. I know I had a few lemmings (still do, actually... I should get on purchasing them haha) that I was able to get thanks to Katie!

I have three of the colours to share - Magnetic Burgundy, Magnetic Dark Silver and Magnetic Blue. There's a Magnetic Violet also - it looks pretty :) Not the most original names but that's okay! Each of the colours have a different magnet design, so I just went with what was already on the polishes. Let's get started!

Magnetic Burgundy. Two coats. I actually really like this one. The design came out nicely on it (I think!) and the shimmery bits are just so pretty. :) This magnet was probably the strongest out of the bunch - I didn't have too many issues with it. I wish it was a bit wider because my nails curve so much but that's about it.

Magnetic Blue. Two coats. Bah! I feel like this design would have showed up way better if my nails were longer. I've been keeping them really short lately so I had a hard time trying to line everything up so the design actually looked like something. I finally got the hang of it on my index finger - it looks more like the star-like design and less... abstract? Haha. I do like this magnet though, I'm going to have to try it again. And again, the shimmery bits. I die.

Magnetic Dark Silver. Two coats. I was most excited for this magnet but it turned out to really be my problem child. I could not get the design to show up as clearly as I'd hoped. :( More time, less time, holding the magnet closer to my cuticle, holding it further away, I just could not get the design to scream at me with awesomeness. I'm wondering if it's just because there isn't as much contrast between the design and the base colour with this polish? I'll have to try it again and report back to you guys.

Overall, I like these. I know Barry M is much more affordable than the Nails Inc magnetics and I like that there's a little more room for different designs rather than the standard squiggly bit. Magnetic Burgundy is definitely my pick of the bunch colourwise but I love the magnet design for Magnetic Blue, I wish it fit on my nubbly nails a little better though haha.

For those of us not lucky enough to live somewhere that we can find Barry M like everywhere, you can get Barry M polishes from Harlow & Co. Katie has them listed for $8.50, and you can find them on the second page.

That's it from me today. What do you lovelies think? I wish there was some way that somebody could create magnetic animal prints. Wouldn't that be awesome? Oh, if only certain companies would find a way to rip our ideas off for stuff like this... ;)

Thanks for reading! Have a beautiful day!
