Different Dimension swatches!

Hello lacquered lovelies! Happy Thursday! It's almost the weekend, whooo! Any special plans? :)

Today I've got swatches of four Different Dimension polishes to share with you. Different Dimension is an etsy shop run by a lady named Missi. She's super sweet and creates really interesting polishes! Missi is a licenced nail tech and says she just got tired of how all nail polishes look the same sometimes. I'm sure we all know that feel, right? I felt like that looking at the line up of core OPI shades actually... I love OPI but I wish their core line up contained more interesting polishes sometimes!

Anyway, I was super excited when Missi contacted me because MEAN GIRLS POLISH. Seriously. You guys might not know this about me, but I'm a huge Mean Girls fan. I know. I don't know how anyone would have guessed this. It's not like I quote it all the time or helped found Pink Wednesdays for the nail blog world or anything else like that. It's kind of a secret love, really. ;) Wow could I possibly be more sarcastic right now?

So, let's get started! First up is On Wednesdays We Wear Pink. It's got a milky pink base with pink holographic glitter and different shades of pink hexes. I had to get this because Mean Girls. I don't need any other reason. I ended up being super impressed with it though - a lot of indies are in clear bases and usually can't be layered to opacity. On Wednesdays We Wear Pink is super opaque. Much more opaque than I was expecting it to be. I put down a quick coat of China Glaze Dance Baby before I swatched this one and the first coat covered Dance Baby completely, the second leveled everything out. I will say that this polish dries really gritty though. A coat of Gelous and a coat of China Glaze Fast Forward and it was good to go, though!

This is Social Suicide. Yeaaaah buddy. I love black and white glitters. This one has smaller white glitter mixed with black and white hexes. I layered two coats of Social Suicide over two coats of China Glaze Concrete Jungle. This also looks awesome mattified... here's an instagram picture of when I wore it the first time, over Essence Grey-t to be Here. Obviously I'm obsessed with keeping black and white glitters monochromatic when I choose my base lol.

Next up is Bazinga!. I know this is a quote from the Big Bang Theory, I just really liked the combination of colours :) At first it made me think of Fawkes, Dumbledore's phoenix (Harry Potter nerd for liiiiiife for real haha) but then I decided to layer it over Nails Inc Hampstead Gardens, which resulted in the most fall-looking combination ever, in my opinion. Swatching this made me want a pumpkin spice latte and a cozy sweater ASAP! This is one coat of Bazinga! over one coat of Hampstead Gardens. The glitter payoff in Bazinga! is good. I did have to fish a bit for hexes at times because they kept going to the edge of my nubbins (hence not having like any on my pinky hehe) but I don't really like to place glitter when I'm applying it anyway. :)

And last is Puzzle Pieces. Missi has two polishes in her shop for a great cause. Half of the proceeds of every sale of Puzzle Pieces and Light it Up Blue go to Autism Speaks, an research and advocacy foundation dedicated to funding research into the prevention, causes and treatments of autism, finding a cure for autism, increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders and advocating for the needs of people with autism and their families. Both polishes are gorgeous (I'll be making an order tonight with my mom and Light it Up Blue will definitely be coming to live with me - great cause and a great polish - it glows blue!) and they're for a great cause - it's a win-win situation, I think. :)

Puzzle Pieces is such an interesting polish... I don't have anything like it. It's got rainbow coloured shreds and hexes and these really interesting iridescent flakes. I wore this manicure for days (which is why there's sunlight pictures - I got lucky!), I was obsessed with the combination. I'm sorry to show another layering over a grey-ish polish but it's my most recent polish obsession (grey nails are just so classy!) and I thought it showed the colours really well. So this is two coats of Puzzle Pieces over two coats of Zoya Kelly.

So, what do you guys think? I can't wait to place an order for more with my momma, Missi posted a bunch of new polishes (including a Pretty Little Liars inspired mini collection and a beautiful fall collection!) so I'm sure I'll be going a bit crazy hehe!

If you want to place an order too, Missi was sweet enough to give me a coupon code to share with you guys! It will give you 20% off of your entire order and it's good until 11th October (two weeks from today). The code is glittagloves20 and the link to Missi's etsy shop is right here. Happy shopping!

What do you lovelies think? Will you be scooping any of these up?

Thanks for reading! Have a beautiful day!

The polishes in this post were provided to me in exchange for an honest review. For more information, see my disclosure tab above.

Lac Attack Mattes & Music swatches!

Hello lacquered lovelies! Happy Tuesday! I hope you've all had a good start to your week. I apologise for my prolonged silence again - I don't mean to keep vanishing like that but my real life is making it hard for me to keep up with my polish life :( I think I've got a solution though - I wasn't swatching because I was never off on days that it was sunny/had a bunch of things to do on my days off, so I started playing with the white balance on my camera to figure out a lighting situation and I think I've got it. It's not 100% where I'd like it to be, but I'll let you guys know which pictures aren't in sunlight and maybe you can tell me what you think?

So today I've got some polishes from Lac Attack's Mattes & Music collection. Omg. I'm a huge music snob geek and I love matte glitter so hard it's an illness, so this is basically a perfect collection for me. I love it. Anastasia came up with some really beautiful polishes, so let's get started with the sharing, yes? Okayyyy everything is going under a cut again because I don't know how to use less photos.

All of the swatches have topcoat - the first swatch is with Seche Vite, all of the rest are with Gelous + China Glaze Fast Forward.

Dollish Polish It's A Me, Mario!

Hello lacquered lovelies! Happy Tuesday! I hope you've all had a good start to your week. Mine's been okay. I really need someone to kick my butt in gear for getting my sciences upgraded, though! Anyone feel up to the challenge? I think I'm a bit schooled out lately... I love being in school but I'm finding this whole "self motivated studying" thing difficult haha.

Today I've got a manicure that I wore a couple of weeks ago to show with you. If you follow me on instagram you've already seen a cell phone picture of this but omg. I don't have words for how much I loved this combo on, I got lots of compliments but (more importantly imo) I couldn't stop staring at my nails!

Dollish Polish recently came out with a Mario inspired collection and I pretty much died over it. It's a lot of awesome. Sadly, DP is one of the indies that I have the worst luck actually trying to get my hands on :( I always seem to miss restocks or I get cart jacked at the last minute! This is a polish from that collection, called It's A Me, Mario!. Luigi was always my favourite brother but I liked Mario's colour combination haha. I used to get so mad playing Mario games... Peach was so useless that it made me want to punch her in the throat haha.

Anyway... Then my love Jen included this beauty in a package to me... I was so excited! Actually, this whole post is brought to you by Jen... she sent me the base polish too! Since I knew that I couldn't build It's A Me, Mario! up to opacity, I decided to try it over a lighter blue. I've been obsessed with getting my paws on the Zoya Mod Mattes trio and Jen was awesome enough to send them along too, so I decided to give Phoebe a try as a base! Thanks again, Jen <333

So, here's two coats of Zoya Phoebe with two coats of Dollish Polish It's A Me, Mario over top. I think I used one coat of topcoat here.

Gah it's so pretty! I wish the stars were easier to fish out but I didn't really try that hard until I realised that the only stars I'd managed to get by that point in the manicure were on non-photo nails haha.

What do you lovelies think? Did you play any of the Mario games when you were younger? I loved playing Super Mario World on my Super Nintendo. What a great system, I miss it. I play Super Mario Galaxy for Wii now sometimes but I always have a difficult time adjusting to using the nunchuck thing too. It makes me long for the days when things were more simple. ;)

Thanks for reading! Have a beautiful day!

Lac Attack Break the Night With Colour

Hello lacquered lovelies! Happy Wednesday! I hope your week is going well :) Today's post is an inadvertent pink Wednesday post haha. It's been a while!

So as some of you might have noticed, my posting has become pretty erratic lately. I've just been feeling pretty... uninspired. I've never liked editing pictures (I'm lazy sometimes) but lately it's this thing that I just loathe, and I feel like I'm rehashing the same thing because I post all of my manicures on instagram (which is just @glittagloves if you want sneak peeks!) so it feels... boring? Like I've done it already and nobody needs to see it, I guess.

Then I get nail mail sometimes that reinspires me completely. Getting nail mail from Anastasia of Lac Attack is always a treat. Her polishes are super pretty and she's lovely in the most insane, awesome way. We were discussing one of her collections, Mattes and Music, and talking about song titles to use as names for polishes. Since I'm not the polish creator here, I said that I'd always wanted a polish named after one of my favourite songs ever, Break the Night With Colour by Richard Ashcroft (the former frontman of the Verve).

It's a song Richard wrote about his depression, about breaking through it and finding... well, the brighter side, I suppose, as cliche as that sounds. I think that's a theme a lot of us can relate to... this song helped me through a lot. So having a polish named after it means a lot to me, especially because it came from one of my favourite people I've met through blogging :) This is two coats of Lac Attack Break the Night With Colour over one coat of China Glaze Dance Baby, topped with China Glaze Fast Forward. I'm sorry if you see any bubbling and I'm REALLY sorry for my dry cuticles!
Yuuuum bottle shot. Imagine how stoked I was when I opened the package up and saw this?!
I had to include two macro shots, I always use my ring fingernail but I really liked the glitter variety on my pinky too. :) Originally I was going to layer this over grey... I still think it will look beautiful over grey, but I chose pink because I felt that using it with grey the first time I wore it would be... the opposite of the song, in a lot of ways. If that makes sense. I think I'm putting way too much thought into this. ANYWAY, what do you guys think? Unfortunately, I don't think Anastasia has plans to sell this beauty :( we'll have to wait and see! I know she's working on a lot of awesomeness right now. Thank you so much for making this for me, Anastasia, it's exactly what I always imagined a polish named after that song would be. <3 Thanks for reading! Have a beautiful day!
