Shimmer Polish swatches, part one!

Hello lacquered lovelies! Happy Saturday! Today I've got swatches of some really beautiful glitters to share with you guys :)

You've probably heard of Shimmer Polish. Shimmer Polish is an indie brand masterminded by a lovely lady named Cindy. These are the types of glitters that I think have gotten a bit lost in the craziness of our indie obsession - metallic glitters all the way through. I'm not knocking indie sellers for using matte glitter (I love matte glitter so hard, more pls) but honestly, when I started seeing Shimmer Polish swatches popping up everywhere I started to remember that there are other types of glitters than just the mattes that I've been obsessing over haha.

Cindy creates glitters that are like the glitters that got me into polish in the first place (and earned me my nickname that became the name of this blog!). They're dense and sparkly and fascinating. I got these a few weeks ago and it's taken me so long to post them because I've been wearing each one as a full manicure... or with one of the glitters on each hand :) It's gotten some weird looks but whatever, I thought it was fun!

For all of the swatches I have two coats of the Shimmer Polish glitter over two coats of a base colour. I used my homemade peel-off basecoat and topped each one with 1-2 layers of Gelous and a coat of Seche Vite.

Let's start below a cut because there's a lot of photos!

Ozotic Beam swatches!

Hello lacquered lovelies! Happy Thanksgiving to all of my Canadian friends :) I hope you all stuffed your faces! I just got my wisdom teeth out on Friday, so I can't eat yet, really... I don't eat meat anyway so I'm not missing the turkey, there are just other things I wish I could eat but can't because chewing is still difficult hehe! Getting my teeth out was fun... apparently I had to be sedated three times before I would actually calm down, then I almost broke my mom's hand squeezing it while they were giving me the numbing needles. I don't remember this. Apparently I kept asking for a donkey too and saying they have soft ears. Which they do. I love donkeys, they're cute. I'm not in too much pain, I was pretty scared after I came home and everything though - my chin and lower lip were numb until almost 24 hours after my "surgery" and I was starting to get all worried that it was going to be permanent! It wasn't, thank god, but I definitely pinched my chin a lot to try and test the feeling haha. Thank you all for your well wishes on twitter etc, I really appreciate it <3

Anyway, today I've got an exciting post! I have the Ozotic Beam polishes to share with you today, and at the same time that this post is going live, one of my blog crushes, Marta of Chit Chat Nails, will be posting her swatches of the Sugar polishes! I can't wait to see them, so make sure you hop on over and check out Marta's swatches, they're sure to be fantastic :)

The Beam polishes are really cool. They remind me of the CND Effect polishes, in that they're meant for layering and they're all gorgeous and flecky. The Beams are more unique, more complex, in my opinion - some of the CND Effects only have one or two colours in them, but the Beams have multiple colours and they really change the dimension of the polishes you layer them over.

For each swatch, I chose a creme as my base (to really let the flecks shine through), either going with something complementary or contrasting, depending on the look I was going for. At the end of my post, I have some comparisons with the four Beams, where I put them side-by-side over black, so you can see the differences. So, let's get started!

First up is 905. I see pink, blue and yellow flecks in this one. I layered one coat of 905 over two coats of American Apparel Peacock.

906 is mainly the pink/fuschia and blue flecks. All of the Beam polishes are in a clear base, in case I forgot to say that above. This is one coat of 906 over two coats of a-england Elaine.

907 has blue and yellow flecks, so I decided to layer it over green. This is one coat of 907 over three coats of NARS Zulu. Probably not the best base colour choice (what a finicky formula!) but I loved how this turned out. :) My nails look really short in these pictures... I'm sorry! I'm enjoying them short at the moment but it is strange to see them this short in photos haha.

Last up is 908, which has the yellow/gold and pink/fuschia flecks. I layered one coat of 908 over one coat of American Apparel Mount Royal.

And here is each of the Beam polishes layered over black (two coats of Sinful Colors Black on Black). 905 is on my index fingernail, 906 is on my middle fingernail, 907 is on my ring fingernail and 908 is on my pinky fingernail. :)

And macro shots of each one over black. :)

Whew! So many pictures! What do you guys think of these beauties? I loooooove them, I see myself using them a lot to update manicures when I don't have time for a new one! Which one is your favourite?

You can scoop these up at Harlow & Co. - Katie's running a little low on stock for them right now but she should be getting restock some time this week!

Thanks for reading! Have a beautiful day!
