Lac Attack Magical Musings collection swatches

Hello lacquered lovelies! Happy Saturday whooo! I hope all my American friends had an excellent Thanksgiving!

Today I've got swatches of the Lac Attack/Glitta Gloves collaboration collection, Magical Musings. These are, of course, Harry Potter-themed polishes, and you guys know how hard I love Harry Potter, so I might possibly nerd out a bit talking about some of these.

I don't really have words for how much I love these. I've dreamed of a Harry Potter collection for so long that I can still hardly believe that this is real and that I got the chance to help make one!

All swatches are with basecoat and topcoat. Some are on their own, some are layered - I'll specify in the intro to each polish.

Just so I'm not repeating it over and over - the formulas for these were great. These glitters are more dense than glitters Anastasia has done previously, and I know she was worried about them being super thick. They weren't at all. I found them all easy to apply and even the problem children (there were two, sort of) were still easy to work with.

Finally! We can share with you at last! I collaborated with my sweet friend Anastasia of Lac Attack on a collection inspired by one of the things we love most (besides polish, of course) - Harry Potter. We decided it was time for a collection of HP inspired polishes that weren't just based on House colours (no offense to those polishes at all) - we wanted to create something for people like us, who make Harry Potter references in daily life and will understand where the inspirations for these polishes came from. :)

We were inspired by places and things in Harry Potter, not so much people (perhaps another collection?). More information and bottle shots will be available soon, but here's a teaser. Keep an eye on the Lac Attack Facebook page for bottle shots later today!

The Magical Musings collection will be available for purchase December 1, from the Lac Attack goodsie site :)

I'm so excited you guys, seriously. I love Harry Potter so much and I love Anastasia, she's so much fun to talk to and working with her on this has been a blast! She's so creative and inspiring and sweet. I got these in the mail yesterday and died, they're a billion times better than I thought they would be and I'm in love with them. I hope you guys like them as much as I do! <3

Essie Butler Please

Hello lacquered lovelies! Happy Tuesday! Are all of my American friends ready for Thanksgiving? It still blows my mind that you guys celebrate it on a Thursday. Who's going to brave the crowds for Black Friday? I'm hoping to get a couple of things online but BF hasn't quite made its way here yet. That being said, I'm sure it won't be long until BF is a huge deal in Canada too. If we get two Thanksgivings I won't complain! ;)

Today I've got the first pictures taken in my lightbox for you! I FINALLY built a lightbox (if you're looking for a good guide on what to do I used this one and thought it was great) and I'm reasonably happy with it. Now that I understand how to use the white balance on my camera (it took me forever because I guess I'm dumb) I think I can finally manage decent photos without the sun. But that's my opinion - will you guys let me know what you think of the photos?

So when Jen posted her swatches of the Essie Leading Lady collection, I knew there were two polishes I needed for sure - Butler Please and Leading Lady. The rest I was undecided on and figured I'd look at them in person to decide. So far I've only purchased Butler Please and Leading Lady and I had to wear Butler Please right away. I don't wear blues that often (weirdly, since it's one of the most populous colours in my stash) but when I do I always go for blues like this - really vibrant, usually cremes or crellies.

This is two coats of Butler Please with topcoat (Essie Good to Go). I only have one picture of it to share because all of my photos turned out similarly. This is a really tricky colour to capture - it has a bit more purple in it than my photos show. I was thinking of doing a comparison post with Butler Please and Leading Lady - would you want to see comps? If my camera doesn't explode from trying to capture those blues haha.

Isn't it lovely? Have you scooped any polishes from this collection up yet?

Shimmer Polish swatches, part two *pic heavy*

Hello lacquered lovelies! Happy hump day! The weekend is approaching, yay! Any plans? I'm just working for the next few days. Holiday hours start soon so I'm not very excited for that haha.

Today I've got the second part of my Shimmer Polish swatches. Here's the first half if you missed them - Cindy makes some really lovely and complex glitters and I'm excited to show you the second half!

Each Shimmer is swatched over two coats of base colour. This time I varied between one and two coats depending on how I thought it looked, so I'll specify before each set of photos.

Once again, swatches start under the jump - there's six this time and multiple pictures of each so.... :)

Lush Lacquer Shred Me Silly

Hello lacquered lovelies! Happy Sunday! I hope your weekends are going well so far. I'm sorry for my prolonged silence again. I don't really have an excuse. I just haven't felt much like sitting down to edit photos. It's not that I didn't feel like blogging - it's that I hate the editing haha. So I figured I'd ease into it with a quick post on a combo that I wore a little while ago and really enjoyed.

I've been going through a grey phase lately, so whenever I've got a glitter that needs a base I go for grey first. I made an order for a couple of Lush Lacquers and was dying to try them out, but Shred Me Silly was the first one I wore. This is two coats of Lush Lacquer Shred Me Silly over two coats of China Glaze Recycle (one of my favourite greys ever!).

Just wanted to add - I don't know why Lush Lacquer polishes hate me, but they ALWAYS bubble on me. It doesn't matter what topcoat I use or the polish I use underneath - I've tried everything but they always bubble on me. I've thinned Shred Me Silly a couple of times and it's still pretty thick and tricky to manage. :( I love the combos that they come up with but the bubbling is a no go for me, so I doubt I'll be ordering any more any time soon unless I can figure out a way to stop the bubbling - any tips, anyone?

I took a million macro shots of this but ended up needing to use my middle fingernail because my ring fingernail had so many bubbles. BAH! I hate cool combos that get ruined by stuff like that, it makes me want to punch someone.

What do you guys think? Do you have any Lush Lacquers? How do you deal with bubbling?
