Cake batter

Hello lacquered lovelies! Happy Tuesday? I'm stoked because I have tomorrow and Thursday off but I know that Friday seems a long way off right now lol. American friends, you did have yesterday off, right? I hope you enjoyed your long weekend!

Today I have another glitter and jelly sandwich. I KNOW GUYS. I know. I know you're probably really sick of seeing them, but I started this blog to show swatches and what I've been wearing lately. I haven't been able to swatch because of my work schedule (my days off only seem to bring terrible weather, so expect some lamp pictures for a bit... *sigh*), so it's back to "I wore this" posts for now. And I've been wearing a lot of sandwiches lately. I've had so many ideas for them and I love trying them. I'm sorry if you're sick of seeing them. Maybe skip this entry then lol!

So yeah. Another glitter and jelly sandwich. Let me say something first, though - I used OPI Bubble Bath in this, right? A polish that I hated so much the first few times I used it that I wanted to chuck it against a wall lol. Those sheer finishes are not an option for me (I know it's gross to some people but I do have stained nails, so...) so I need more opacity than what they're probably supposed to give. So I did four coats of it, right? Waited about ten minutes between coats, topped it off with my trusty China Glaze Fast Forward, and an hour later it still hadn't dried. So I spent (basically) almost two hours on it. Thankfully I was watching Saw, so the time passed quickly but still. I was mad.

I figured that was just going into my "hey, maybe I'll have a blog sale at some point" pile, or that I'd give it to someone who wanted a bit of class to their nails or something. Also known as "not me". Then I decided that I would give it one more shot, and use glitter and try layering it. And I'm so glad I did because I looooooooooove this mani. But enough talking, more pictures, right?

I started out with two coats of OPI Bubble Bath. I waited about twenty minutes for it to dry, just to be safe, and added one coat of Wet 'n' Wild Party of Five Glitters, then two more coats of Bubble Bath. Topped it all off with China Glaze FF.

That's the most visible my nail line has been in a while lol. My nails are stained but the free edge is still really white. More coats would've fixed that but whatever, I didn't mind much. This totally reminds me of confetti cake! I would put a picture in but... if you don't know what I'm talking about, google at your own risk. I'm starving and didn't want to look through the image results to find one that looked like my nails lol. I was thinking about Glitter in the Air, because Kellie had just posted it (and now I need it because of her.. *shakes fist*), but I was also thinking about an awesome mani Liz of Liquid Jelly had done for a Pink Wednesday post. I loved her mani so much! I couldn't do the accent nail, though, so I just borrowed the batter part. :)

Lots of writing today, I'm sorry! What do you lovelies think? Are you sick of glitter and jelly sandwiches? Have you done any good ones lately? Any ideas for any? I wish nail polish companies would make ONE polish like this and save us all the work lol! What are you rocking today?

Thanks for reading! Have a beautiful day!

Hello lacquered lovelies! Back to the grind, eh? *Prepares self for possible Canadian jokes in comments* Ah well, Mondays are like my Thursdays (I get Wednesday and Thursday off lol) so I'm excited. I'm feeling really wiped this week - I can't even remember the last time I sat down to prep posts before 1 AM, so I'm feeling rather pleased with myself!

So today I have... words can't describe. I've never gotten so many compliments on a polish that I've worn "plain" (without any Konading or whatnot). Seriously. People were in love with it. So many people asked me about it. One of my supervisors grabbed my hand just so she could stare at my nails (she's a weird one lol). The name of this polish is perfect. It's a coral jelly with gold and coral glitter (and some glitter that looks like it flashes green and blue in some lights) and it's amazing. Three coats of the beauty that is Cult Nails Captivated.

I know this picture sucks (I'm so sorry) but my camera flipped out with this polish. It was so much awesomeness. And I apologize for the weird hand position - I rarely hold perfectly round bottles so I had a hard time getting used to it lol!
So glorious.

There isn't a single swatch of this polish that makes it look bad. I was so thrilled to get my order (I also got Iconic), everyone's been posting their picks for the last week and half and every swatch of Captivated made me die a little inside because I didn't have my bottle yet. I got my order on Friday, which, coincidentally, was two days after Amy Grace posted on Captivated. Seriously, guys. I love her blog so much, her pictures are gorgeous, her nails are gorgeous and she seems like such a sweetheart!

Anyway, that's it from me today. I think I have another glitter sandwich for tomorrow (what can I say, I love them!) and I was actually quite stoked on how this came out. I can't wait to show it to you guys! I think it will be tomorrow... we'll see what else I find in my "I have these but haven't used them" photo file.

So, what do you lovelies think? Did you pick up any Cult Nails polishes? You can buy them here. They retail for $10 a bottle and shipping is really reasonable - I think it was about $6 for it to come to Canada! Doesn't this look fiery? I'm in love, seriously. I really didn't want to take this polish off!

Thanks for reading! Have a beautiful day!

Psychedelic orange

Hello lacquered lovelies! Happy Saturday! How are you doing? I'm writing this as I get ready for work so I'll be a bit brief. I get off work at a relatively decent time today so I'm going to come home and watch some of the Saw movies lol. None of them are as good as the first one was but I do like gory movies and I find them funny, in a way!

Today I have what I kept calling a "sunshine mani" in my head. The weather was supposed to be miserable on the day that I wore this and I wanted something to cheer myself up. It was actually a gorgeous day but I suppose either way it works, right?

I picked up two of the summer FingerPaints polishes and used them both for this manicure. I used two coats of Outta Sight Orange (which I will have a comparison post with soon). On my ring finger I used four coats of Psychedelic Sunshine. On a side note, holy god PS had a bit of a nightmare formula. The polish itself is gorgeousssssss, but I had to use about 15 drops of thinner to get it to the point where it wasn't just giant globs over my nails! I know other people had this problem too... for me it was worth the effort, but I don't know if it will be for everyone.

I'm sorry that it's a bit blurry but this was the only picture where I didn't have a weird shadow over my nails!

Macro of Psychedelic Sunshine

I got a lot of compliments on this, surprisingly. Although I kind of forget that "normal" people don't really do accent nails lol. I think some people thought it was a mistake! Ah well, I loved this while it lasted.

What do you lovelies think? How do you feel about Psychedelic Sunshine? Do you want to see that comparison post with Outta Sight Orange? Did you pick up any of the new FingerPaints summer polishes? They're all gorg but these are the only two that called to me!

Thanks for reading! Have a beautiful day!

I love colours like this so hard

Hello lacquered lovelies! Happy Friday! I'm sorry about the lack of a post yesterday... blogger was being a jerk when I woke up and wouldn't let me log in, and I woke up with a migraine so I didn't fancy sitting in front of a computer screen. It felt weird to not post but hopefully the weather starts cooperating so I can keep up my posting schedule while I'm working this summer! Also, if you don't see me approving your comments throughout the day, it's because I still can't get blogger to work on my phone... though I hope that problem is solved in the morning! It's after 1 AM as I write this and I work at 9 lol.

Today I have a polish I was going to wear while I went around dropping off resumes. I have a job but I dislike it and it's only getting worse, so it's the time to act, right? I wanted something that wasn't sheer (my nails are too stained, sadly) but was still opaque and a bit "me".

Enter China Glaze Channelesque. I looooooooooooove colours like this. I would wear them all the time if I could. I love Below Deck, colours like this everywhere always draw me in. I don't know what it is but I love them. The hint of purple keeps them from being boring. And even though I already had Below Deck, I wanted Channelesque so badly. I wouldn't say BD and Channelesque are dupes but they are damn close. It's probably my desire to own every colour like this ever that makes me see the differences. Below Deck is a bit more purple to my eye.

This was two glorious coats. This applied like a dream. And yes, I did actually use topcoat, yay!

That's it! Short and sweet. I feel like I've been saying that a lot lately but I'm sure you enjoy less of my blabbing, right?

What do you think? Do you wear a lot of colours like this? What's your favourite? Do you have any that you love that you think I should pick up? Would you want to see a Below Deck/Channelesque comparison?

Thanks for reading! Have a beautiful day!

Whoo pink Wednesday!

Hello lacquered lovelies! Happy hump day! I'm so happy because I finally have a day off - and tomorrow too! Sadly, my plans to swatch are ruined due to the lack of sunlight *glares at sky* but I have some other stuff planned and I'll do my best. That said, I apologize for the lighting. I tried going outside but I think the pictures I took under my lamp looked slightly better... six of one and half a dozen of the other though, really!

After my last pink Wednesday post, quite a few people asked me why I don't post on Zoya more often. Once again, I don't want to get into the reasons for it, but this is another pink (ish?) Zoya that I have, so I guess I'll post on it! So today I'm wearing Zoya Sachi, with a coat of Sinful Colors Pinky Glitter (loooove) on my ring finger. Two coats of Sachi, no topcoat.

Then I tried adding a coat of Sachi over my accent nail, since it's a bit sheer and squishy looking.

Ugh fail. It didn't come out the way I wanted it to at all. The glitter isn't there enough for me! It's like this is glitter in a subtle way or something... not how I roll. ;)

That's it from me today, short and sweet. I'm going to go get ready, I'm having a Skype movie date with a friend in Ireland. We're watching Harry Potter!

And don't forget, lovelies, as always, you can sit with us by joining here. Please do, I go and look at everyone's blogs every Wednesday! :)

What do you lovelies think? Do you want to see more Zoya posts? I could try and get some done for you guys but my problem with Zoya is mainly their formula - it never flipping dries on me! Maybe just some swatches? Are you wearing pink today? Have you done any fun accent nail manis lately?

Thanks for reading! Have a beautiful day!

I might like this

Hello lacquered lovelies! Happy Tuesday! I'm thrilled that it's Tuesday because I get tomorrow and Thursday off, whooo! I have so much blog stuff that I need to catch up on - I've been terrible at replying to comments/emails/messages and I want to spend time on twitter talking to friends like I used to be able to. <3

Today's post is veryyyy different for me. I wasn't going to post it today, but miss Deborah wanted to see it. And she's pretty awesome and a huge part of why I'm trying to wear reds more, so I decided to do it. I have a serious case of nail envy whenever I look at her blog haha. Now... If you somehow saw the tags before you actually saw the post, then you might know what I'm talking about. Yes, I am posting on a red nail polish. No, the world hasn't ended. I think I was craving it because I'm not keen on how red nail polish looks on long nails, but I love it on shorter nails. And for me, my nails are shorties at the moment, so I figured now was as good a time as any to try a polish that I really wanted, for some reason. I found it on evilbay but I think it might be core?

I started out with two coats of Essie Jelly Apple, a vibrant red jelly. I would've done three if I was using it on its own, but I knew I was going to keep layering, so two was fine. Then I added a coat of China Glaze Techno, because I love it and glitter and because I knew that this type of glitter would look good over what I wanted to do. Then I tried adding another coat of Jelly Apple over top (only on my thumb, of course), but I didn't like it. It was a bit too pigmented/opaque for what I wanted to do. So, of course, I grabbed an OPI mini and some clear polish and set to work to franken a jelly that would be sheer enough. Jelly Apple kept looking pink as I added more clear polish, so I added a few drops of Revlon Red too. I layered my "franken" over top and added topcoat, though it was already super shiny on its own... and this is what happened.

So yeah! I think I actually liked this. It was really really red, but it's also really really squishy and you all know how I feel about jellies!

What do you lovelies think? Isn't making glitter jelly sandwiches fun? Have you come up with any combinations recently that you loved? What's your favourite jelly polish?

Thanks for reading! Have a beautiful day!

Multichrome awesomeness

Hello lacquered lovelies! Good morning :) How are you doing today? I'm nearing the end of my work week and I can't wait. It's my roomie's birthday tomorrow and we're celebrating tonight with bingo and... ahh, less appropriate things that I won't share here lol. I'm excited!

Today I have a polish that shows the dangers of twitter. Guys, seriously. I love twitter so so much. It's pretty much instant chatting with people who understand what I mean when I say "unicorn pee" or "jelly sandwich" or "cuticle dragging". But twitter is dangerous for those same reasons - we all talk about so many things and lemmings can be created completely unexpectedly. And sometimes painfully (for the wallet, of course). Thankfully, that is not the case here.

Jen twitpicd a bottle of multichrome goodness that I knew I needed the second I saw it. She said she'd found it on ebay for cheap, so naturally, I went looking. It's an old OPI polish and after a bit of looking, I found a seller willing to ship to me, yay! Keep in mind that I did this without even looking up swatches of this - until I remembered to do it after I'd already bought it haha. Thankfully, it's awesome. This is OPI Movin' Out. I layered two coats of it over two coats of OPI Pamplona Purple, which I just got recently but it seems to work well with the colours I need to layer. I should probably show it on its own at some point but I'm sure you've all seen it a million times! Can't believe I almost forgot to add this, but my ring finger is four coats of Movin' Out on its own. Sheer as, this is definitely a layering polish.

Direct sunlight

So yeah. This is awesome. I have some other layering ideas for this bad boy that I must try this week. I also have the posts for my next theme week all ready to go! I think I'll start it in June, though, I don't want two theme weeks in one month. Also, as I type this, I'm wearing red nail polish. I don't know why. Actually, I sort of do. After breaking my middle fingernail, I kind of just started craving red. I don't usually like the way red looks on longer nails but I loooooove it on shorter nails. And I must say, I tried something out with this one and I actually like this mani. So it'll be a time that I wear red and actually post on it *hides Ruby Pumps pictures*.

That's it from me today! What do you lovelies think? This is one of the best twitter-enabled polishes I've got. And pretty much all of the polishes Jen has made me want are awesome... cow. ;) My wallet weeps. Do you have this polish? I noticed that the price went up for it on ebay - I paid under $10 for it - and that's with international shipping, remember - but it looks like a lot of very good sellers still have it, so if you want it, I'd say to get it while the getting's good. Once we all started talking about it and buying it it vanished from ebay for a week or so haha. Do you want it? I should mention that it's an old OPI - as in, not big three free, you can smell the chemically goodness for miles. If that's a concern for you, I wouldn't suggest this bad boy.

Thanks for reading! Have a beautiful day!

Nfu Oh 51: love in a bottle

Hello lacquered lovelies! Whoooo happy Friday! I actually have the day off today (I really need consecutive days off soon... this five days on, one day off five more days on kind of schedule is killing me) and I'm going to Sally's yay!

Today I have a gorgeous polish for you. Nfu Oh 51 was one of my biggest lemmings for a while. Like 61, I kind of figured that I would never get it - it was always out of stock on fabuloustreet and I thought we were never going to meet (much the same way I feel about OPI La Boheme). And then Jen DMd me on twitter to tell me that 51 and 61 were back in stock. I know I've said it before but I'll say it again - Jen is one of my biggest lemming creators and one of my biggest enablers too lol. Of course, I passed it along to a few of my friends and placed my own order. And shipping was actually quite reasonable for Canada - it was $6. No tracking, supposedly, though I did get tracking for mine...?

So here it is. Nfu Oh 51. I layered it over two coats of OPI Pamplona Purple. This is one coat of the Nfu Oh over top, plus topcoat. I'm about to show you pictures with weird hand positions for me but I thought it helped show the many faces of 51 better. Also, my nails look like little mustaches haha.

This is my mani from yesterday. After I took these pictures, I broke my middle fingernail. I was pretty choked but such is life. I was thinking about filing my nails down anyway, just to get them all growing evenly (my right hand is all over the place at the moment). I hate length for the sake of length, and after I did it before, I really hate when nails are all uneven lengths. I think it looks stupid, especially when it's my middle finger lol. And I really hate rounded long nails (I don't know why but it looks gross to me), so I'll be keeping the square shape even as I'm rocking what are basically nubbins for me. You'll see my shorties soon... I think!

So yeah! That's it for today! What do you lovelies think? Isn't this gorgeous? I want every single Nfu Oh flakie there is! Also, I love their bottles - they're so gorgeous. Heavier than I expected too! Do you have any Nfu Oh polishes? Any suggestions? I'm dying to get the rest of the holos, despite the horrible application (more on that later).

Thanks for reading! Have a beautiful day!

Bundle Monster Stamping with Nicole :)

Hey ladies, it’s Nicole again! This is up a wee bit later than I had planned, sorry about that. My intention had been to write this up last night and then schedule it to post, but my wireless network had other plans and I ended up just writing it in a TextEdit document so I could copy/paste and add in the pictures.

Anyway, how have you gorgeous things been doing since I last blogged at you? I am once again back to being unemployed, but I’m staying optimistic!

As Kirsten mentioned in a post last week, I’m going to be showing you a manicure I did with my new set of Bundle Monster plates!

The base here is one coat (!) of China Glaze Little Drummer Boy, a beautiful navy shimmer. I really love this polish because not only is it a one-coater that dries pretty quickly, but it actually looks blue in almost every light, it’s not one of those ones that turns black as soon as the light dims a bit. The only drawback is that it stains like nobody’s business (or at least it did for me), so it’s vital to use two coats of base coat if you don’t want to scrub your cuticles with acetone after.

On top of LDB I stamped the geometric outline design from BM-208 on all of my fingers except for my ring finger with China Glaze Adore, the light blue metallic polish from the Romantique collection. I’m sure you know by now that that collection is absolutely fantastic for stamping and, at least for me, much easier to get ahold of than the Konad special stamping polishes.

For my ring finger I used the geometric non-outline stamp from the same plate as the other. I don’t know if those descriptions make sense, but if you’ve got the plate (or look at a picture of it) you’ll know exactly what I mean. They aren’t total opposites, but they are similar enough to me.

(I feel like I should mention that this isn’t the original manicure I did at Kirsten’s place when I first got the plates. I originally used OPI Russian Navy as a base, but the pictures I took of it didn’t turn out and then my mani chipped before I had a chance to re-do it. I don’t have Russian Navy, but I thought LDB would be a good substitute)

I finished it all off with a coat of a new topcoat I came across at Winners a while back, Calvin Klein Splendid Glaze fast-drying topcoat. If you can manage to get a bottle of it, I highly recommend it. It doesn’t smudge Konad designs if you use a light touch, it’s not super thick, it doesn’t cause any shrinkage, and it doesn’t smell like death. I don’t know if it dries as fast as Seche Vite because I don’t really pay attention to that, but it’s certainly faster than a regular topcoat, and for the $6 that I paid for it that’s really all I care about.

The only reason I even took notice of BM-208 more than the others was that there was a mix-up with my plates that resulted in me getting two of them, but no BM-206 plate. Fortunately the customer service at Bundle Monster is incredible and it’s all sorted out (they sent me a BM-206 plate at no charge and I gave the extra BM-208 to my cousin/Kirsten’s roomie) and I have the full set, but I kind of like that something good came out of a mistake. :)

Phew, that was a lot of writing! Thanks so much for reading and I will talk to you again soon!

ABCs of Glitta Gloves

Hello lacquered lovelies! I saw this tag floating around. I haven't been tagged but I wanted to do it and tag some of my girls, so let's do it!

A. Age:
I'm 21. Which seemed really old when I actually turned 21, but now I'm starting to realize that I still (hopefully) have so much ahead of me.

B. Bed size:
Twin. I had a queen back home but it's hard to move such a huge bed around when you move as much as I have this year.

C. Chore you hate:
Is taking out the garbage even a chore? I really hate doing that, anyway.

D. Day:
I like Sundays, because during classes it's the only day where I don't have to go to class or work. Now, it's any day I get off of work... like today!

E. Essential start to your day:
Coffee. I have finally admitted my caffeine addiction after getting a splitting headache when I had to skip it a couple of days ago.

F. Favorite color:
Weirdly, it's purple. Which I rarely show on here. But to keep this nail related, green is my favourite nail polish colour.

G. Gold or Silver:
Silver. I'm not keen on gold at all.

H. Height:
Haha oh man. I'm 5'2 if I cheat a little bit.

I. Instruments:
Clarinet is my instrument of choice. :) I can play bits and bobs of other instruments. And I love to sing.

J. Job title:
Student, really. Although right now I'm working in retail... I hate my job.

K. Kids:

L. Live:
In Canada! Almost as far west as you can get :)

M. Mom’s name:
Melody. I love my mommalom and I love her name, it suits her perfectly. Some of my earliest memories are of my momma singing.

N. Nicknames:
Kirs, Glitta Gloves (how else would my blog name have come about?), any other assortment of affectionate insults that my friends and I call each other. I prefer Kirs to Kirsten, actually, because I really hate my name haha.

O. Overnight hospital stays:
I don't understand the question?

P. Pet peeve:
Rudeness. I hate people who don't say "please" and "thank you". I hate people who treat me like I must be stupid because I work a crappy job. I also hate people who can't spell... and people with poor grammar.

Q. Quote from a movie:
Since it's Wednesday... "She's not interested. So you can go shave your back now." Regina George, Mean Girls.

R. Right or left handed:
I'm right-dominant, but I can write with both hands. A skill I spent a summer teaching myself before university, because my demented brain thought it would be useful... what?

S. Siblings:
I have a twin, and my brothers are twins.

T. Time you wake up:
Depends on what time I go to bed at and what time I have to work.

U. Underwear:
Is pretty nice sometimes? Some of these are baffling to me.

V. Vegetables you dislike:
Ugh god. I'm not a fan of peppers unless they're actually in things. And brussels sprout. I die whenever I smell them. It's disgusting. It's not a vegetable, but I'm also a vegetarian. I don't dislike people eating meat or something, but some of it smells foul to me when it's cooking. Especially lamb. *Gags*

W. What makes you run late:
Very few things. Usually lack of sleep. Or an inability to find my keys in my ridiculously huge purse when I need to run out and lock the door.

X. X-Rays you’ve had:
My teeth about a million damn times.

Y. Yummy food you make:
I like cooking. :) I want to make some brownies today!

Z. Zoo:
I need to go to a zoo soon. I haven't been for years now. I always like looking at all the reptiles. My dream pet is a bearded dragon. A Leucistic one, to be exact. I love albino-like things. And a bulldog called Winston.

I love "ugly" things. "Ugly" polish, "ugly" animals, all that. My other dream dog is another Shar-Pei... I had one once.

I can't imagine having another Shar-Pei that looks like her, though... I think I'd want an apricot coloured one next.

Yeah. I'm going to go smash my head against brick walls now. Cuteness effing overload a;ghsad;gjhs;djlghs.

I tag anyone who wants to do this! Specifically, I'll tag my girls...

Is this pink or coral?

Hello lacquered lovelies! It's another Wednesday and you know what that means! Why haven't you joined us yet? Don't you want to sit with us? If you're not wearing pink today...

Today, I have a Zoya for you. I don't show Zoya on here that often, for reasons I'd rather not get into, but this one appealed to me straight out of the bottle. Because of this. Zoya Tosca, you little minx.

Looks awesome, right? Unfortunately, that mental shimmer did not translate onto the nail. This was two coats.

Ah well. It was worth a try, right? I don't know what it is but I'm just not really feeling this. It pulled really red on me... maybe that's why? Zoya describes it as red but honestly, when you're looking at it in the bottle, it looks more pink.

That's it from me today, short and sweet! The sun is poking out through the clouds so I'm running outside to take pictures of my nails, of course! What do you lovelies think? Do you like this polish? What's your favourite Zoya?

Thanks for reading! Have a beautiful day!

I love this: Essie Smooth Sailing

Hello lacquered lovelies! I'm feeling a bit brain dead as I write this. Yesterday was a crazy day - we had a massive sale at my work. Normally that wouldn't bother me (I like being on till haha) but there was a horrible lack of communication between the rest of us and management. They kept making announcements for all of these things without actually coming around and telling each of us - and we were so busy that I didn't even hear announcements most of the time! Frustrating! It's hard to do a (crappy but still) job decently when you don't even know what's going on. And then customers were getting frustrated because we were frustrated... irritating all around. Speaking of irritating, Blogger is supposedly done recovering all of the posts, but my post from Thursday is still missing - which means the comments are too. :( I reposted it last night but I really hope Blogger will sort this out! I filled that form out, so we'll see. You can see last Thursday's post reposted here. My week didn't feel right without a post from every day!

Anyway, today I have another pretty Essie to show you. This is Smooth Sailing, another one from the Brazilliant collection and the only other polish in the display that interested me. And seriously, guys, it's flipping gorgeous. Smooth Sailing is a beautiful periwinkle packed with shimmer. I looked at it in the bottle and it was instant love. It applies a bit sheer on the first coat but builds up nicely. This was two coats and topcoat.

I don't really have much else to say about this polish except that I'm in love with it. It's seriously beautiful.

What do you lovelies think? Are you planning on picking any polishes from this collection up? I always wonder this too - do people like the Essie brush? I know some people complain because it's narrow but I find it much easier to use, my nails aren't that wide and sometimes I make a big mess with the OPI ProWide brush!

Thanks for reading! Have a beautiful day!

Essie Brazilliant

Hello lacquered lovelies! Another week begins. It's a super busy day at my stupid job today - we're having a massive sale, so today is just going to be filled with idiots arguing with me and person after person after person. Ah well, thank god it's only once every few months. And I did my nails for the theme for it, since I don't have the clothing for this theme. I might start a theme week because of it, if you guys aren't sick of theme weeks!

For today, I have an orange. I know, I know. But I missed them last week and roomie and I found the new Essie Brazilliant display! I was so excited too. I grabbed two polishes, Brazilliant and Smooth Sailing, which didn't appeal to me at all in promo pictures. And then I saw it in person and fell in love. But more on that in another post!

Brazilliant is an awesome bright orange packed with shimmer. I love this polish like I love all oranges. Formula was a breeze too, this was two coats. I only have one comment that might be a negative for some of you, but let me show you first. Again, I apologize for the lighting. I might start smashing skulls if we don't get some darn sunlight here!

I don't know if you can tell... it has this weird finish, almost like rubber? It reminds me of those Orly Plastix polishes... what is it, a satin finish?

But it's even prettier with topcoat...

Yeah. Delicious. I know I show a lot of oranges but I really do love them. I think I need to do a blue week soon, I don't feel like I post enough of them. Or enough browns. Or reds, but... ngh. I'll try harder. Are there any colours you'd like to see more of?

That's it from  me today! What do you think? Do you like this polish? Are you going to be picking up any polishes from this collection? If I could only suggest one, it would actually be Smooth Sailing. It's so gorgeous that I just stared at my nails all day when I wore it. Essie's really been stepping up their game lately, I've been loving their collections! I went from having no Essie polishes to loving quite a few of them!

Days four and five: A dirty green and my favourite green ever

Hello lacquered lovelies! Happy Saturday! I feel all mixed up, that whole "blogger being down" thing really threw me for a loop. Thank god I worked all day both days or I might have had serious withdrawal symptoms! I missed writing to you guys, it's crazy, I never realized what a huge part of my day blogging actually is. My post from Thursday is still missing as I write this but blogger says that the problem will be sorted out soon... fingers crossed!

So, since my regular posting schedule got interrupted, I have a two-for-one kind of post today. I wanted to post an "ugly" green on Friday but obviously that wasn't possible, so I'm posting it today. And I wanted to wrap up green week with my favourite green ever... ah well, such is life! I'm just glad I can actually write this post lol!

You guys know how much I love "ugly" polish colours. Seriously. NPW for me. So when I saw the OPI Pirates of the Caribbean promo pictures, I knew Stranger Tides had to be mine.

Stranger Tides is a murky grey-sage green. It's so... dirty looking. I love it. I love colours like this. I got a lot of weird comments about this when I wore it but oh well, I love it! And bonusssssss - that's how shiny it is without topcoat. This was three coats. It would've been good in two, but we've discussed my spastic hands, so I needed three to level it out. I love this colour so hard. Also, observe the only moment of sunlight from the last week and a half. *Sigh* Spring fail.

I wish I could've done this next polish justice. I always take a million pictures of it but just... you need it. Trust me. You need it. This is the most beautiful green I own. It is my favourite ever. I need 210103410 back up bottles of it. I need a Helmer just for back up bottles of it.

China Glaze Emerald Sparkle. So so gorgeous.

Just to show the glitter

Yeah. My favourite green ever. And don't let the terrible lighting (I am so sorry) of my pictures fool you. This baby always looks green. And always looks gorgeous.

You need it. Trust me. You do.

That concludes my green week! I hope you've enjoyed it :) Green is one of my favourite nail polish colours and I have not been giving it enough love lately. I wanted to show a variety of greens but there were so many others I could have shown - Nubar Reclaim, China Glaze L8R G8R, China Glaze Jolly Holly, OPI Don't Mess with OPI... I think China Glaze makes the best greens. Even though my biggest green lemmings are OPI (*sigh*), China Glaze consistently comes out with beautiful greens and isn't afraid to go a more unique route (ie Zombie Zest - although that was from the year of the dupes so there were many, I thought it was pretty unique when it first came out!). Most of my greens are China Glaze and I love that ChG is one brand that usually includes a green in each collection!

That's it from me today! By the time this gets posted I'll be at work, boo! Hopefully my post from Thursday shows up soon haha. Still no go as of 12:30 AM here!

What do you lovelies think? Do you have either of these polishes? Would you like to own either one of them? What polish colour do you wear most? What's your favourite? Do you think one brand does a certain colour better than another (like Essie and pinks?) China Glaze is my number one for greens, though I tried to show a variety this week! Would you like to see another colour theme week? If so, what colour? ELIZABETH DON'T SAY PINK. <3333

Day four: Almost black, but it's still green.

EDIT: So even after Blogger finished all the maintenance and post recovery (supposedly), my post from Thursday never appeared again. I just rewrote it and put it back into where it was supposed to go. Sadly, the comments from before are gone, which sucks because someone suggested something awesome to try with the plates and now I can't remember who it was or what they suggested - just that I thought it was awesome! My green week finally feels complete... hopefully the post will turn up at some point?

Hello lacquered lovelies! For another day of green week, I have my first mani with the new BM plates! I'm so glad that they fixed a lot of the issues there, the images are much better this time around and will work for everyone! Although most of the full nail stamps in the old set were fine for me... I have narrow nails lol.

Also, today is a special day. My blog turns 5 months old today, and as of this writing I have 555 followers. The universe conspires again? I feel so lucky to have such lovely readers and thank you all for reading, commenting, emailing, talking to me on twitter, all of that. The nail world has been a great community to get involved with and I'm so glad to have met so many wonderful ladies!

Okay, end mushy time. So Nicole came over to hang out with roomie (who is also Nicole's cousin) and I. We went polish hunting (I'll be showing a polish I got tomorrow!), hit the Body Shop (ahh I love you satsuma everything ever) and Lush, of course. And a few other places. It was a very successful hunting day. Nicole had gotten her BM plates in the mail when she was on her way out the door and had them with her, so when we went back to our place we decided that we should all repaint our nails and use some of the designs! Here's what I came up with. I hope Nicole shows hers soon, it was cute!

I started out with three coats of OPI Here Today, Aragon Tomorrow. It's a blackened deep green and it's a jellyyyyy so you know I love it. I did three coats just because... well, because I'm a habitual three-coater, actually, unless the polish really doesn't need it. Slapped some topcoat on it and waited probably fifteen minutes before I started stamping over it with China Glaze L8R G8R (you know how much I love stamping with holos). Nicole chose the plate, because I'm terrible at choosing and just choose cheetah print when all else fails. She chose this sort of leaf design from BM210.

Because I actually have a pointer! Sorry about the bit of tipwear, I think I took this at work... stupid job. :(

And that's it! Super simple and actually pretty subtle in comparison to some of the other things I've come up with haha!

That's it from me today! What do you lovelies think? Do you like this mani? Have you ordered the BM plates yet? Do you plan to? Do you have any ideas that you'd like me to try my hand (lol) at? Are you glad green week is almost ending? I'm not, I love having theme weeks, especially for one of my favourite polish colours!

Thanks for reading! Have a beautiful day!
